FBA Lineage Pilot Study

Stage 0: Internal Test — Questionnaire v0.9

The FBA Lineage Pilot Study tests whether Foundational Black American can be consistently understood, self-identified, and described through genealogical information as a lineage-based detailed identity.

You do not have to trace your family back to slavery to participate. The study uses the Documented FBA Lineage Anchor approach: a documented ancestral connection to the historic U.S. Black population can establish the research lineage connection.

What This Pilot Is

• An independent community research project.
• A test of definition comprehension, terminology, genealogy workflow, and research methods.
• A way to identify weaknesses before a larger Stage 1 pilot.

What This Pilot Is Not

• It is not an official Census Bureau or OMB form.
• It does not create a legal race, ethnicity, nationality, citizenship, reparations status, or government benefit.
• It does not certify anyone as FBA.
• It does not require DNA or slavery-era records.

Privacy

Do not submit Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, financial information, passwords, raw DNA data, or unnecessary private information about living relatives. Document uploads are not accepted during this testing phase.

Participation is voluntary. Research results may be reported only in anonymized or aggregate form unless separate permission is obtained for a public case study.
